Midwest Sports of Aberdeen, South Dakota, was founded by avid Walleye anglers who just felt like fishing tackle could be made better.

John Bader grew up fishing in South Dakota and bought his first boat at age 15. His knowledge of the local lakes, rivers and the fishing tackle industry led him and Rick Olson, Walleye Pro, to develop our signature product lines, Pro Tackle and Pro Tournament Rods.

We focus on making the basics better at a reasonable price. Then we supplement our product array with selections from other well known quality manufacturers such as ProLine Fishing's Mr. Walleye and IcePro Rods, Reef Runner Fishing Lures, Ranger Nets, JB Lures, Today’s Tackle and others.

We pride ourselves in providing prompt, personalized service and like to fill special requests such as locating items from other manufacturers or designing a product to fit a specific need. We’re here to serve you better!

Trolling for Walleye on Lake Oahe, part of the Missouri River system, has always been one of John’s passions. That led him to develop our 10’ and 12’ Pro Tournament Trolling Rods designed specifically for use with Lead Core and Fireline. They are engineered to have a strong backbone with a soft tip. Many of the Pros on the Walleye Tours use them with successful performance results. Winners of the 2008 South Dakota Governor’s Cup and the 2009 South Dakota Walleye Classic also use them.

Our jigs are known locally as “No Chip” jigs for their durability. We don’t take short cuts and we make them to last. Our No Collar Jigs are an effective means to prolong the useful life of artificial baits such as Gulp, Powerbait and Gulp Alive!. We also enjoy producing jigs and bottom bouncers in custom weights, styles and colors.
